Manchester City sign Antoine Semenyo for initial £62.5m on contract to 2031

Manchester City have bolstered their Premier League title push with a significant signing, inking Antoine Semenyo to a contract worth an initial £62.5m, spanning until 2031.

The 26-year-old striker joins a team currently six points adrift of league leaders Arsenal, with 17 matches remaining in the season. City's manager Pep Guardiola revealed that he had to secure Semenyo's signature over competition from Liverpool and Manchester United, a testament to his perceived value on the pitch.

Semenyo is eager to contribute to the team's resurgence, saying he is "ready and ready to be part of this journey." The forward, who has recently scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 20 Premier League games this season, believes that Manchester City are the ideal platform for his growth and development. He expressed gratitude towards his family, friends, and fiancée, citing their emotional support as crucial in overcoming personal challenges.

Under Guardiola's guidance, Semenyo is expected to play a key role, particularly given his long-throwing ability, which could prove an asset in City's title quest. With the head coach emphasizing that rotation will be minimal, Semenyo is likely to make his debut for Manchester City against Exeter in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The forward's journey has been circuitous, having spent time on loan at Bath and Newport before flourishing with Bristol City and Bournemouth. Despite his recent struggles, Semenyo believes he still has room for improvement and feels that joining City will be instrumental in unlocking his full potential.

As Manchester City strive to reclaim the Premier League title, Semenyo's arrival marks a significant boost to their prospects, with the striker expressing optimism about the team's chances of success.

He just signed for like £62.5m and everyone's hyped 💸🔥 Man City finally got a striker who can score goals & provide assists 📈👍 Semenyo's journey to the top is so inspiring, from loan spells to now being part of the big guns 😊. Pep Guardiola knows what he's doing, getting him over the other teams was a good move 👌. Now let's see if he can lead City to that title 🏆👀

I'm loving this signing! 🤩 Pep Guardiola has shown once again why he's one of the best managers in the game, outbidding those guys from Liverpool and United for Semenyo. The stats don't lie, 10 goals and 3 assists in just 20 games is no joke. He seems like a great addition to City's squad, especially with that long-throwing ability which could be huge in their title push.

It's also refreshing to see him talking about how his family, friends, and fiancée have been there for him through thick and thin. It just goes to show you that football isn't everything, you need people who care about you off the pitch too.

I'm really curious to see him in action on Saturday against Exeter in the FA Cup. The fact that Guardiola wants minimal rotation bodes well for Semenyo's chances of making an impact from the start. With City still six points behind Arsenal and 17 games left, this signing is a huge boost to their title hopes.

What I think is also interesting is how Semenyo has taken the circuitous route to get to City. From loan spells at Bath and Newport to bigger leagues like Bristol City and Bournemouth. It's clear he's had his ups and downs but still believes he can grow and improve with City. Fingers crossed for him! 🤞

just saw this thread and gotta say, I'm surprised Pep went for Semenyo over those other strikers they were linked to 🤔... I mean, don't get me wrong, he does have some skills on the pitch, but is £62.5m really worth it? 🤑 seems like a lot of cash for a player who's already had some struggles in his career. still, if he can help City win that title, it'll be a solid investment 💸... and I love how humble he is about joining the team, always grateful for emotional support from loved ones 🙏

Just imagine how pumped the whole city is gonna be when Semenyo scores that first goal 🤩🔴⚪️, City fans are always hyped but this signing might just give them the extra push they need to take down Arsenal 🔝💪. Pep's squad management is as solid as ever, minimal rotation should help Semenyo settle in quickly and make an impact ⏱️. Can't wait for Saturday's FA Cup match against Exeter, that long throw of his could be game changing 🤯!

oh man 🤯 i dont know how pep guardiola convinced antoine semenyo to join city... £62.5m is a crazy amount of money for a player who recently scored 10 goals and provided 3 assists in like, what 20 games or something? 🤑 does that really mean he's worth all that dough?

i also wonder how semenyo will fit into the team with minimal rotation... wont that just lead to him getting injured or tired? 💤 hopefully pep knows what hes doing 👊
