'I couldn't speak. I couldn't breathe' – This is climate breakdown

The article is a personal account of the author's experience working in a warehouse during a heatwave, where she and her roommate had to deal with the challenges of extreme temperatures, poor air quality, and lack of facilities. The author describes how they had to navigate their workday, dealing with physical exhaustion, dehydration, and health issues.

The article highlights several key points:

1. **Lack of ventilation**: The warehouse did not have proper ventilation systems, leading to extremely hot conditions that made it difficult for the workers to breathe.
2. **Physical strain**: The author walked up and down stairs, carrying heavy goods, and worked long hours without adequate breaks, leading to physical exhaustion.
3. **Financial burden**: The author and her roommate had to spend extra money on a cooler to stay cool, which increased their electricity bills.
4. **Health consequences**: The extreme heat took a toll on the author's health, causing her to lose her voice, get a bad cold, and feel weak and unwell.

The article also highlights the social and economic impact of the heatwave on migrant workers:

1. **Migrant worker struggles**: The author notes that many migrant workers like herself were forced to take on extra work due to financial pressures, which made their lives even more challenging.
2. **Lack of support**: Migrant workers often face barriers in accessing social services and healthcare, making it difficult for them to cope with extreme weather conditions.

Overall, the article paints a vivid picture of the challenges faced by migrant workers during heatwaves and highlights the need for better working conditions, ventilation, and social protection measures to mitigate the impact of extreme weather on vulnerable populations.

I'm seriously worried about our warehouse workers 🤕! Did you know that heat stress affects 90% of workers in warehouses during hot spells? 💦 It's like they're trapped in a oven with no escape 🔪. And it's not just physical exhaustion, mental health issues are on the rise too 😩. Migrant workers are especially vulnerable, with 70% of them reporting feeling stressed or anxious during heatwaves 🤯. We need better ventilation systems and regular breaks, like 4 hours of cooling time for every 8 hours worked ⏰. And what's up with the lack of air quality monitoring? 💨 It's like we're playing a game of Russian roulette with their health! 💀

omg like can u believe how hard it is 4 ppl 2 work in warehouse during heatwave?? 🤯 i mean i know some ppl might think its just a little hot but for ppl who gotta walk up & down stairs, carry heavy goods & work long hrs w/ no breaks its straight up physically exhausting 😩 n u dont even get me started on the financial burden lol they gotta spend extra cash on coolers 2 stay chill which increases their electricity bills...that's just crazy! 🤑 but what really gets me is the health consequences 🤕 losin ur voice, gettin a bad cold, feelin weak & unwell...its not even worth it. n u know its not jus the warehouse workers who r affected either 🤝 migrant workers like myself r forced 2 take on extra work due 2 financial pressures which makes life even harder 💔 n they often dont even have access 2 proper social services or healthcare 🚑 so yeah let's get 2gthr 4 better working conditions, ventilation & social protection measures 4 these ppl 🌟

Ugh, working in warehouses is already no joke, but add a heatwave on top and it's like they're asking for trouble ☀️. I mean, proper ventilation is not too much to ask, right? It's basic human rights stuff. And don't even get me started on the financial burden - who can afford to pay more electricity bills just to stay cool? 💸

It's crazy that migrant workers are expected to take extra work to make ends meet, only to be left vulnerable to extreme weather conditions 🤯. And then they have to deal with lack of support from social services and healthcare? That's just unacceptable 🙅‍♀️.

I think the government should really look into implementing better working conditions, especially for migrant workers who are already in a tough spot 📈. Maybe some subsidies or support programs could help them out during heatwaves? 💕

Wow 🤯 those warehouse temps are straight outta hell 💀, no way to breathe or cool down, so harsh on the body & mind. Interesting how migrant workers get hit with extra work just to make ends meet, and then nobody's there to support 'em when it gets tough 😔

Ugh, reading this makes me think about how awful our forum is 🤯... I mean, can we talk about something else? Seriously though, this heatwave in warehouses is a huge issue. We're lucky if our laptops don't overheat in the summer 🙄. The fact that migrant workers have to take on extra work just because they can't afford aircon is just disgusting 💸.

And what's with the lack of ventilation in warehouses? It's not like it's hard to install some basic fans or something... I mean, I know our forum has no money 🤑, but come on! The government should be doing more to support workers during extreme weather conditions. We need better working conditions, not just a pat on the back 💕.

I'm getting so frustrated reading about this. Can we please move on to something else? Maybe some memes or something 😂?

Ugh, can't believe people have to go through this 🤕! The fact that they didn't even have decent air con in the warehouse is just crazy... I mean, come on, basic safety should be a priority! And don't even get me started on the financial burden, it's like, extra money for a cooler? Who can afford that? 😱 The migrant worker struggles are so real and it's heartbreaking to see people being taken advantage of. We need better systems in place to support these workers, they deserve so much more 💕. And honestly, it just goes to show how far we've got to go in terms of prioritizing human rights and dignity 🤝

Ugh, I'm getting all sweaty just thinking about this... 😩 The idea that people have to deal with extreme temperatures in warehouses without proper ventilation is just insane! I mean, I've had to navigate through sweltering summers at film festivals, but at least it's air-conditioned and I can grab a cold drink whenever I want.

But seriously, the financial burden on migrant workers is just staggering. I feel for them having to break the bank on coolers just to get by. It's not fair that they're expected to work in these conditions without any support or resources. And don't even get me started on the health consequences – it's like they're being asked to put their bodies through a war zone.

As someone who loves nostalgic classics, I often find myself romanticizing about the past when it comes to working conditions and social protections. But this is just heartbreaking. We need to step up our game and provide better care for these workers. It's not too much to ask, right? 🤕

I'm seriously concerned about these warehouse workers they have no right to be treated like that 🤕. I mean, it's not just physical health issues but also mental toll because you're forced to work in those conditions and can't even take a break without breaking the law...or getting fired. And on top of that, the financial burden is huge, especially when they have to spend extra money on coolers just to survive. It's like they're being forced to choose between their health and paycheck 🤯.

And what really gets me is that these workers are often migrant workers who can't even access basic social services or healthcare because of their immigration status...it's just not fair 😔. We need to start taking responsibility for creating better working conditions, improving ventilation systems, and providing support for these vulnerable populations. It's not just a matter of charity, it's about human rights 🤝.

ugh this is so scary how can people work in those conditions its like they r not even human rn i dont think our society is doing enuf 2 protect these ppl who are just trying 2 make a living we need better ventilation systems, more breaks, and access 2 healthcare 4 all workers not just migrants...and its not jst about the heatwaves its bout the financial burden too how can ppl afford 2 pay 4 electricity when they r already struggling 2 survive

Ugh, this is getting ridiculous 🤯! I'm so over people making a dime off our sweat 💸. Working in those warehouses with no AC is literally killing us ☀️. Can't they just invest in some proper ventilation systems already? It's not like it's gonna break the bank 💸. And honestly, who can afford to spend extra money on coolers when you're barely scraping by? 🤷‍♀️ The migrant worker struggles are real and we need to do better by them 👍. I'm all for good causes but this is just basic human rights stuff 😒. We should be working together to make our workplaces safer and more sustainable, not exploiting people's labor 💪.

I'm so concerned about these warehouse workers... they're basically working in their own personal oven 🌡️😓. I mean, no air con, no breaks, just non-stop physical labor from dawn till dusk... it's like a recipe for disaster, especially when you factor in the heatwave and poor air quality. And to make matters worse, they have to spend their own cash on coolers to stay alive 💸😷.

It's not just the workers who are affected, either - the whole community suffers when these migrant workers can't get a decent night's sleep or get sick because of the heat 🤒💨. We need better working conditions, more support for these folks... it's basic human rights stuff 🌎👍. Have you guys heard any plans to improve this in our country?

I don’t usually comment but this story just broke my heart 🤕. I mean, who doesn't want to work in a comfortable place with good air quality? But these people are literally struggling for their lives out there. The author's story is so relatable, like we've all been there with a bad cold or heat exhaustion. It's crazy that some companies just don't care about their workers' well-being 🤑. And it's even more heartbreaking when you see the impact on migrant workers who are already in tough spots financially and emotionally 💔. We need to do better, like, seriously better. I wish more people would talk about this stuff and raise awareness about how we can make things more humane for everyone 👍

I'M FED UP WITH THESE WAREHOUSE WORKERS BEING TREATED LIKE THIS!!! THEY'RE JUST TRYING TO MAKE ENDS MEET AND PROVIDE FOR THEIR FAMILIES BUT INSTEAD THEY GET GIVE THE RUNDOWN ON POOR VENTILATION, LONG HOURS, AND NO BREAKS. IT'S LIKE THEY'RE JUST SWEAT SHOPPING OVER HERE!!! AND TO TOP IT OFF, MIGRANT WORKERS ARE THE WORST HIT AS THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE ACCESS TO PROPER HEALTHCARE OR SOCIAL SERVICES!!! IT'S UNACCEPTABLE THAT THESE PEOPLE ARE BEING FORCED TO DEAL WITH THIS KIND OF STRESS AND SUFFERING JUST BECAUSE THEY NEED A PAYCHECK. WE NEED BETTER, FOLKS!!! 💁‍♀️🌡️
