How to cancel or pause your YouTube TV subscription

Google's YouTube TV Service Hits Roadblock: How to Cancel or Pause Subscription Amid Carriage Dispute and Price Hikes

YouTube TV has been named as one of the best live TV streaming services by several tech reviewers, but for many users, it may not be worth the cost, especially given a recent price hike. The ongoing carriage dispute between Google and Disney has resulted in some channels being unavailable, including ABC and ESPN.

The service's subscriber base may want to cancel or pause their subscription due to these factors. However, if you're one of them, here's how to do it quickly and efficiently.

Canceling Your YouTube TV Subscription on Mobile and Web

If you pay Google directly for your YouTube TV access, the process is straightforward:

1. Open the YouTube TV website or app.
2. Tap or click on your profile photo.
3. Select Settings (represented by a gear icon).
4. Then, select Membership.
5. After that, choose Manage.
6. Follow up with Cancel membership and then Cancel to confirm.

Your subscription will be canceled once you've completed this process. Please note that you'll still have access to YouTube TV until the end of your current payment period. Any recorded shows or movies will be deleted after 21 days. Google may also store some information, like your home zip code, for fraud prevention purposes.

However, if you signed up through your mobile carrier or internet provider, the process is slightly different. You'll need to cancel with them directly rather than Google.

Pausing Your YouTube TV Subscription on Mobile and Web

If you prefer not to pay full price each month but still want to keep your channels, pausing your subscription is an option:

1. Open the YouTube TV website or app.
2. Tap or click on your profile photo.
3. Select Settings (represented by a gear icon).
4. Then, select Membership.
5. Choose Manage.
6. Use the on-screen slider to choose how long you want to pause payments for.

By pausing your subscription, you can continue using YouTube TV until the end of your current billing period, at which point you'll lose access and won't be charged again. You can resume paying whenever you're ready.

It's worth noting that while there's no option to extend a pause once it begins, you will have the opportunity to do so when your billing restarts.

omg u guys i just tried to cancel my youtube tv subscription and it was literally super easy 🙌 i mean i know some ppl are having probs cuz of that carriage dispute with disney but idk why google made us pay more for the same service lol 😒 anyway dont wanna be a hater so ill give them props 4 at least makin it easy to cancel or pause my sub if u need help just go 2 youtube tv settings and follow the steps 👍

I'm really disappointed about this carriage dispute thingy 🤔. I mean, who wants to lose their favorite channels like ABC and ESPN? I get why Google is trying to negotiate prices with Disney, but can't they just find a way to make it work without affecting users? 💸 It's frustrating when you're already paying for a service and then have to deal with more issues. On the other hand, I do understand that Google needs to balance its costs, and this price hike was probably needed. Maybe we'll see some kind of compromise soon? 🤞

I'm really confused about this whole YouTube TV thing... I mean, I know some people love live sports and news, but with all these price hikes and channels going missing (like ABC and ESPN), I don't know if it's worth it anymore 🤔. And now Google is being held hostage by Disney over carriage fees? It's like they're playing a game of tug-of-war between content creators and viewers... 📺

I've tried to cancel my subscription on the website, but it's not super easy, you know? You have to go through all these steps and even then, some info might be stuck with Google forever 🚫. And if I pause my subscription, will I lose access to all the shows and movies I recorded? 📺💔

I think Google needs to rethink their pricing strategy and make it more flexible for viewers like me... or maybe just give us more notice when things change ⏰. But until then, I'm sticking with Netflix 😎.

I'm kinda surprised by this whole thing 🤔... I mean, think about it - we're living in an era where streaming services are changing the way we consume media, but at the same time, we're still tied to our monthly payments 💸. It's like, what even is the point of having all these channels at our fingertips if we can't afford them anymore? 📺 And then there's this whole carriage dispute thing... it's like a big web of interconnected problems that no one seems to be able to untangle 🌐.

It got me thinking - are we just too used to instant gratification and convenience that we've lost sight of what's really important? Like, do we even know what we're willing to pay for anymore? 💸 I mean, I'm not saying I have all the answers or anything... but it's definitely made me think about my own streaming habits and what I'm willing to shell out for 🤔.

I'm thinking of switching back to antenna TV anyway 📺👀 I mean, with all these streaming services and their price hikes, it feels like they're nickel-and-diming us for every little thing. And now this carriage dispute? No thanks. I'd rather have a few channels that I actually watch and use the money saved for something else... or just pay less for them in the first place 🤑

Ugh, this just makes me think about how overpriced everything is now 🤑... I mean, I get it, channels are having issues and all that, but $60 a month for YouTube TV? That's steep, especially if you're not even getting all the channels you want. And what's up with the pause feature, it sounds like just a temporary fix until they come to their senses. But honestly, who knows when they'll drop the price or sort out their carriage dispute? 🤷‍♂️

the whole thing just feels like a game of cat and mouse, right? google's all about the money, but at what cost? their priorities are more focused on lining their own pockets rather than providing value to users. it's like they're taking away channels we love for some fancy price hike 🤑 and then expect us to just roll with it. i mean, can't they see that's not exactly how people want to spend their hard-earned cash? and now you have to go through all this hassle to cancel or pause your subscription... it's like they're making a point to make it as difficult as possible 🤯. i guess what i'm saying is, maybe we need to rethink our relationship with these streaming services and start valuing our money (and our sanity) more 💸
