Greg Grandin on Trump’s “Universal Police Warrant”

I'm seeing some red flags here... 🚨 The US is basically letting corporate interests control what we're exposed to, and it's getting out of hand. News outlets are more worried about pleasing their rich donors than holding those in power accountable. It's not just Trump's administration being a problem, it's the entire system that's broken.

I'm all for The Intercept trying to expand its team and coverage, but where are the other organizations stepping up? We need more diverse voices and perspectives on these issues, not just the same old right-wing talking points. And what about Latin America? China is already playing a huge role in those countries, we shouldn't be pretending like we can just push them out without a plan.

And have you seen the way The Intercept is positioning themselves as the solution to all our problems? It's not that simple. We need more than just a few outlets and journalists calling out bad behavior, we need systemic change. That's what this conversation should be about, not just who's doing it wrong. 💡

I'm still reeling about the state of democracy in the US right now 🤯. I mean, it's crazy how Trump's admin is just doing whatever they want without any checks and balances. And the media situation is so bad - it's like, what's happening to all those news outlets? They're just getting bought up by billionaires who are like, "Hey, let's control the narrative!" 😒.

I'm actually really inspired by The Intercept's commitment to covering these issues though 💪. I mean, they're not afraid to tackle tough topics and hold people in power accountable. And it's so cool that they're trying to grow their team and expand their coverage - we should totally support them! 🙌

But what really gets me is the situation with Venezuela 🇻🇪. I've been following Chavismo, and it's heartbreaking to see how things have fallen apart under Trump's admin. Like, what happened to all those promises of economic growth and social welfare? It's like, where are the leaders who actually care about their people?

Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is that we need more journalism like The Intercept, and we need it now 📰. We need people holding power accountable and telling us the truth - no matter how hard it gets 💥.

I'm really concerned about the state of media freedom right now 📰😬. It's like, how are we supposed to have an informed public if corporations are just buying up all the news outlets? 🤯 And what's even more disturbing is that they're not just silencing left-wing voices, but also right-wing ones that might speak out against corporate interests.

I think The Intercept is doing a great job of covering some of these issues, especially when it comes to authoritarian governments and billionaire oligarchs. But like Greg Wilpert said, we need more reporting capacity to really make a difference 📊. I'd love to see them expand their team and cover more topics, especially those that affect Latin American countries.

It's also interesting to think about China's influence in the region and how it's affecting democracy 🌎. It feels like Trump's administration is just trying to push China out of the way without really thinking about what that would mean for the people on the ground.

Anyway, I'm feeling pretty hopeful about the future if we can see a democratic renewal in Venezuela 🇻🇪. A return to Hugo Chavez's principles and policies could be exactly what we need to start rebuilding our social base and prioritizing the poor and marginalized again 💪.

What do you think? Should The Intercept get more support from us, or is there something else that can be done to help promote media freedom and defend democracy? 🤔
