Goodbye arctic air, hello 70-degree weather

A Sudden Shift in Weather: Houston Braces for Milder Temperatures

Texans are in for a surprise this week as a mass of dry air moves out, ushering in milder temperatures that will stick around for several days. But don't be fooled – one more chilly morning on Monday is expected to bring patchy frost and fog, albeit brief.

By Tuesday, the sun will be shining bright, with highs reaching into the mid-60s by noon and briefly touching 70 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Moisture returns ahead of a cold front later in the day, setting the stage for increasing cloud cover and potential rain showers.

The good news is that arctic air won't be following the cold front through to Wednesday and Thursday, when temperatures are expected to remain in a more "seasonal" range. Daytime highs will stay in the 60s, with lows near 40 degrees.

Rainfall is likely to impact Houston on Tuesday evening, with scattered showers possible throughout the day giving way to heavier downpours during the drive home. While some areas may see over an inch of rain, most neighborhoods are expected to pick up less than half an inch.

Looking ahead to the weekend, a welcome respite from freezing temperatures is in store. Sunny skies and highs in the 70s will provide a refreshing change of pace after two consecutive weekends with sub-freezing temperatures.

For now, though, it's business as usual – the dry air that brought the chilly Monday morning will need to be pushed out by this new mass of milder air. With no cold blasts expected until mid-February at the earliest, Houston residents can bask in the warmer weather for the time being.

omg u wont believe whats happening in houston rn 🌞️! theyre gettin a lil surprise - milder temps are movin in and stickin around 4 a few days 😎 its gonna be a nice break from all the freezing temperatures we had last weekend 🥶 but dont get too comfy cuz ur gonna wanna grab yer jacket for monday morning tho ❄️ fog and patchy frost is expected lol who knew houston was ready for some sunshine ☀️!

omg i'm so done with all this back and forth weather 🤯 i mean who wants to freeze their butt off one day and then be stuck with 60 degree weather the next?! it's like my body is all over the place 😂 but seriously, it sounds like houston is in for a nice break from all that arctic air... can't wait to see those sunny skies and 70s temps ☀️ just hope the rain doesn't ruin the vibe on tuesday 🌧️

I just got back from a weird road trip to visit my aunt in Austin... like 3 hours away from Houston... and I saw this crazy number of armadillos crossing the highway 🐜😂. It's not something you see every day, right? Anyway, that made me think about how Texas has all these different ecosystems just waiting to be explored. Have you ever been on a hike in one of those Hill Country trails? They're so beautiful! 😊

🌞️‍♂️ just wondering why houston has to deal with so much extreme weather change? i mean, one day it's freezing and foggy, the next it's warm and sunny... isn't that like living on an asteroid or something? 🤯 anyways, glad they're getting some milder temps for a bit - perfect excuse to grab a cold drink outside and enjoy some sunshine 😊. mid-70s are gonna be lovely! 💛

🌞🍁 ugh I hate when my kid's schedule gets all mixed up like this! First it's freezing temps and now we're supposed to be enjoying 70 degree days? It's like Mother Nature is trying to keep us on our toes 🤯. And don't even get me started on the rain showers - perfect excuse to skip outdoor playdates, right? 😒 My little one was really looking forward to going to the park this week, now I'm just gonna have to cancel those plans and hope for sunnier days next weekend. Fingers crossed! ☀️

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s kinda weird that they're calling it a "welcome respite" from freezing temperatures 🤔. I mean, don't get me wrong, 70s is way better than sub-freezing, but shouldn’t we be talking about how nice it's gonna feel after two straight weekends of being below freezin'? Like, who doesn't love the beach vibes at this time of year? 🌴 Anyway, gotta appreciate that the rain might help with the drought 😊.

omg this is so exciting!! i've been stuck inside all week with sub-freezing temps and now it's like a whole new world outside 🌞🌴 I'm loving that warm weather forecast for the weekend, 70s is my jam! 💖 but ugh, rain on Tuesday evening is not cool... fingers crossed it doesn't ruin too much of my plans 🤦‍♀️ anyway, glad we don't have to deal with arctic air for a while 😊

🌞️ This sudden shift in weather is pretty interesting. I think it's great that temperatures will be more seasonal by Wednesday and Thursday. 60s during the day and near 40 degrees at night are definitely more comfortable for most people. The fact that rainfall might cause some scattered showers on Tuesday evening doesn't seem like a big deal, considering most areas will only see less than half an inch of rain. It's also nice to know that we won't have any cold blasts until mid-February, so Houston residents can enjoy the warmer weather for now 🌈💛

🌞 just thinking about a whole weekend with sunny skies and 70s is like a breath of fresh air 💨. I'm so over this winter chill 😒 and I know many others are too 👍. Plus, it's nice to have a break from all the rain we've been getting lately ☔️. Bring on those warm temps! 🌴

omg u guys, i know its gonna sound crazy but houston is getting hit w/ milder temps & idk how many ppl r hyped for it lol 🤯 this week's shift in weather has me feeling all the good vibes! and let's be real, after those sub-freezing weekends we're stuck w/ freezing temps i'm low-key excited 2 see those sunny skies & highs in the 70s tho 😎

I'm loving this sudden shift in weather 🌞️! I mean, who doesn't love a good surprise when it comes to temperature? But seriously, I was getting so tired of those sub-freezing mornings every weekend... and now we get to enjoy some decent warmth for the next few days 😊. Still, gotta stay on my toes 'cause that frosty morning on Monday might be a shock (no pun intended ❄️). Fingers crossed it doesn't last too long, but I'm taking advantage of these milder temps while they're here ☀️! By the way, who's loving this weather as much as me? 🤗

Just got my hands on this weather forecast and I'm SO hyped for the warmer vibes 🌞! Anyone else loving the idea of ditching those heavy coats for some lighter layers? It's about time we get a break from all that chilly Houston air ❄️. And, omg, the mid-60s on Tuesday sounds like the perfect excuse to grab some outdoor brunch with friends ☀️. One thing though... hope everyone stays safe with those scattered showers 🌧️. Bring on the sunshine and warm weather for the rest of the week! ☀️

ugh i know it's been super cold lately 🥶, but let's not forget we're basically getting a heatwave compared to last week 😂. think of it this way: monday might be chilly, but it'll only be a quick taste before we dive into the good stuff 🍗. and hey, if there's rain on tuesday, that just means our plants will get some water 💧. can't complain about that! 👌

🤔 Man, I remember when it used to snow like that here in Houston! Now we're gettin' mild temps and sunshine? 🌞 It's crazy how much the weather changes from year to year. I'm all about that 70-degree weekend vibe tho 💁‍♀️. But hold up, one more chilly morning on Monday? Patchy frost and fog? Yikes, my grandma used to complain about that stuff when she was a kid 🙄. Guess it's back to winter boots for now 👠. Anyway, rain's comin'... just what we need, right? ☔️ Can't wait for some actual spring weather tho 🌸!

So they're telling us now that it's gonna get "seasonal" on Wednesday and Thursday? Like, what even is that supposed to mean? Are they trying to spin this as a good thing or something? I'm not buying it. It's still gonna be cold, just maybe not freezing. And don't even get me started on the rain. Scattered showers, really? That's just code for "there's gonna be crap weather". I'll believe it when I see it.

omg u guys!!! 🤯 i'm literally so hyped for this weather shift! who else is over these sub-freezing temps?! 🥶 the thought of sunny days and highs in the 70s is giving me LIFE 💛 can't wait to ditch those heavy coats and enjoy some actual spring vibes 🌸💖

idk how anyone can handle 2 consecutive weekends with sub-freezing temps lol what's next gonna happen winter? 🤣 and btw dont expect it to stay warm forever like the "new normal" is just a myth 🌡️

man 😎 hope the rain dont flood the streets this tuesday evening 🌧️ gotta love a good warm spell after those crazy freeze days ❄️ been thinking we need to invest more in our city's drainage system tho 💡 maybe that's a topic for discussion at the next city council meeting 📊

😎 I'm loving this sudden shift in weather, it's like the earth is giving us a break from all that chill! Mid-60s and 70 degrees by Tuesday? Yes please! 🤩 I was so done with frosty mornings and sub-freezing temps, now we can enjoy some proper spring vibes. And hey, a little rain on Tuesday isn't the end of the world, right? ☁️ It's all good, Houston can handle it! 💪
