Former NFL player from Houston inspires new Disney Jr. series

Houston native Martellus Bennett, a former Super Bowl Champion, has inspired a new animated series on Disney Jr., called "Hey A.J.!". The show is based on his children's book series of the same name, written and illustrated by Bennett himself.

The series follows an imaginative girl named A.J. who uses her big imagination to make ordinary life moments extraordinary, with the help of her stuffed bunny sidekick Theo. Amari McCoy stars as A.J., while Bennett voices her dad Marty. Interestingly, Bennett gets input from his own daughter Austyn Jett on the show's storylines.

Bennett hopes that "Hey A.J.! will inspire kids and parents to use their imaginations together, rather than alone. He believes that by participating in each other's imaginations, families can come together and have more fun." Bennett wants to showcase the power of imagination as often as possible, particularly for children of color.

The show is designed to spark young readers' imaginations and introduce them to characters of color. According to Austyn Jett, who stars in the real-life version of the show, "every single kid calls their dad the awesome-est dad in the world", but seeing her dad on TV might just change that opinion.

The first seven episodes of "Hey A.J.! premiered on January 13th and are now available to stream on Disney+. Bennett is proud to have created a show that reflects his own experiences as a father, and he believes it will resonate with audiences worldwide.

Man... thinkin' about this animated series, you gotta wonder, what's the real magic in imagination? Is it just for kids or can adults tap into that too? I mean, Bennett's all about gettin' families to use their imaginations together, but I'm curious, how much of our own imagination gets lost as we grow up? We're taught to focus on reality, you know? But what if, like A.J., we could just switch gears and make our ordinary lives extraordinary? Would that bring us closer to the people around us? I think about my own kiddo, they're always askin' me to play this made-up game or pretend we're on a wild adventure... it's cool seein' their eyes light up like that. Maybe, just maybe, "Hey A.J!" is remindin' us all to keep that spark alive 🌟

I'm so done with this new animated series πŸ™„. I mean, who thought it was a good idea to make a kid's show about some rich guy's imagination? It's just gonna be a bunch of white kids sitting around watching some cartoon and expecting them to suddenly get inspired by A.J.'s wild adventures. And what's with the tokenistic character of Theo the stuffed bunny? Is this really the best we can do for representation? I bet Austyn Jett's real-life daughter isn't even going to be featured in the show, lol 🀣. It's just a feel-good corporate cash-grab and I'm not buying it πŸ˜’.

omg I love this! 🀩 Martellus Bennett is not only an NFL superstar but also a super cool dad who wants to inspire kids & parents to use their imagination together 🌟! He's creating a show that promotes diversity & inclusivity, featuring characters of color and getting input from his own daughter Austyn Jett - genius move! πŸ‘ I'm sure it'll be a huge hit on Disney+ & will make families laugh & learn together 😊. Can't wait to see more episodes & hear what other parents & kids think about the show πŸ’¬

What's up, I'm low-key excited for this new animated series πŸ€”. A former Super Bowl champ turned author and dad inspirin' kids to use their imagination? Sounds like a dope move to me! πŸ’ͺ Martellus Bennett seems like a cool dude who just wants to bring some positivity to the airwaves. I love that he's includin' characters of color in the show, it's about time 🎨. And Austyn Jett's real-life dad is already an awesome role model, now she gets to be part of somethin' special too! πŸ‘ Can't wait to binge-watch this with my little ones and see how they react πŸ’₯

Idk why they're makin this show about some kid with a stuffed bunny lol... its just a bunch of kiddos runnin around with their imaginations πŸ€£πŸ‘€ i mean im all for kids usin their imaginations and all but can't we just watch some real-life sports instead of cartoon characters?

omg i'm SO hyped for this new animated series!!! 🀩 Martellus Bennett as the voice of A.J.'s dad Marty is everything! I love how he's incorporating his daughter Austyn Jett's ideas into the show, that's so cool! πŸ‘ The idea of using imagination to bring families together is literally genius. I'm a total sucker for shows like this that promote creativity and diversity πŸŒˆπŸ’‘

Disney Jr's new series 'Hey A.J!' is kinda cool, I guess πŸ€”. As an animated show, it's great to see kids' books being adapted into TV, but what really gets me excited is that Martellus Bennett is using his platform to promote imagination and togetherness among families. It's awesome that he's involving his own daughter Austyn Jett in the creative process and bringing diversity to the show 🌈. I mean, it's not every day you see a former NFL player turned children's book author turned TV show creator πŸ˜‚. Bennett's message is spot on - using our imaginations together can make life way more fun and special for both kids and parents. Fingers crossed that 'Hey A.J!' will inspire young minds to think outside the box πŸ“šπŸ’‘.

omg I'm so down for this new animated series πŸŽ‰ "Hey A.J.!" looks like such a fun show! I love that the main character A.J is super imaginative and uses her bunny Theo to make life more exciting πŸ’‘ it's so cool that Martellus Bennett is getting input from his own daughter Austyn Jett on the storylines too. I'm sure she brings some awesome ideas πŸ€” I wish my teachers would let us have more creative freedom in class like A.J does πŸ“šπŸŽ¨ and I think it'd be so great if we could watch an episode or two after school to get our imagination flowing πŸ’«

man πŸ€” it's dope to see martellus bennett using his platform to inspire kids and families to use their imaginations together πŸ‘«πŸŽ¨ i mean, growing up with all the distractions we got today, it's easy to get lost in our own bubbles, but this show is like a breath of fresh air πŸ’¨

Man, this is so cool 🀩! I mean, can you imagine a world where kids actually want to play with their parents? πŸ€” Martellus Bennett's idea of showing families using their imaginations together is like, totally genius πŸ’‘. It's all about breaking down those boundaries and just having fun together, you know?

And I love that he got his own daughter involved in the show's storylines - that's what it's all about, right? Representation matters, especially when it comes to kids of color 🌈. Austyn Jett's comment about her dad being awesome on TV might be a game-changer for some young folks out there.

It's like, we're so used to seeing this 'cool parent' trope in media, but what if that's just a stereotype? What if our parents are actually pretty cool too... and we could learn from them? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ The idea of this show is not just about entertainment, it's about inspiring creativity and connection between kids and their loved ones. That's some deep stuff, fam 😌.

I don't know why they're making a big deal about this πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. It's just an animated show based on some dude's kids' book series. I mean, I guess it's cute that Martellus Bennett is trying to be the voice of reason and get families to use their imaginations together... but let's be real, most parents are gonna end up zoning out while Austyn Jett's character is prattling on about something πŸ™„. And honestly, how long before they're getting complaints that the show is too wholesome or something? I'm sure some helicopter parent out there will find a way to nitpick it to death πŸ˜’.

I loved learning about this new animated series "Hey A.J!" 🀩 I'm a dad myself and I can already imagine how much my little ones would love watching Martellus Bennett's adorable adventures with his daughter Austyn Jett 😊 The show sounds like it's all about using your imagination, which is something that's really important for kids (and let's be honest, adults too πŸ˜‰) to learn. It's awesome that Bennett is sharing his own experiences as a dad and getting input from his daughter on the storylines - I'm sure it makes the show even more special and relatable 😊

I love how Martellus Bennett is using his platform to spread positivity and inspire kids to use their imagination 🌈! It's awesome that he's involving his daughter Austyn Jett in the storytelling process, she must be super excited about being a part of it 😊. I'm curious to see how the show will help promote diversity and representation for kids, especially those from underrepresented communities πŸ“š. The idea of families coming together and having fun through imagination is so cool! I hope "Hey A.J.! will become a favorite among both kids and parents πŸ‘.

πŸ€” I'm so excited about this new animated series "Hey A.J.!". As a parent myself, I can already imagine how awesome it must be for kids to see their favorite characters come to life on TV πŸ“Ί. It's great that Martellus Bennett is not only voicing his daughter Austyn Jett's dad but also getting input from her on the storylines – that's so sweet! πŸ‘ͺ

I think it's amazing that Bennett wants to showcase the power of imagination, especially for kids of color 🎨. As a kid myself, I loved using my imagination and creating stories with my friends. But life got more serious as we grew up πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ.

Is it true that every single kid calls their dad "the awesome-est dad in the world"? πŸ˜‚ If so, I can see how Austyn Jett might be right – seeing her dad on TV might just change some kids' opinions about dads! πŸ’ͺ

I hope this show will inspire kids to use their imaginations together with their families. That sounds like such a fun way to spend quality time together πŸ‘«. What do you guys think? Will "Hey A.J.! be a hit? πŸ€”

omg I'm literally so hyped for this new Disney Jr show "Hey A.J.! 🀩 Marty Bennett's kids book series finally comes to life!!!
