Fast-casual chain Sweetgreen readies first Detroit location - Detroit Metro Times

Sweetgreen, a nationwide fast-casual chain famous for its fresh salads, bowls, and other dishes, is set to debut its first Detroit location in the heart of downtown. The new store will be situated at 1020 Woodward Ave., marking Sweetgreen's sixth Michigan outpost.

According to Chris Tarrant, Chief Development Officer at Sweetgreen, the company is thrilled to join the city's growing momentum. "We're honored to be part of it," he stated. "Our goal is to bring our take on fresh, real food to downtown Detroit and form meaningful connections with local suppliers such as Zingerman's Creamery and Riverridge Produce."

To celebrate its grand opening, Sweetgreen plans a festive event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on December 9th, featuring local partners like Bon Bon Bon for sweets and Earthy Botanical Mobile Bar for warm drinks. One Custom City will also be on hand with live screen printing.

In addition, the company has pledged to donate one meal to Detroit's Forgotten Harvest charity for every meal sold during its grand opening event.

As a prominent player in the fast-casual sector, Sweetgreen boasts an existing presence in several Michigan locations, including Ann Arbor, Arbor Hills, Birmingham, Rochester Hills, and Troy. The new downtown location brings the company one step closer to solidifying its foothold in the Detroit market.

Love that Sweetgreen is finally coming to Detroit 🤩 I mean, who doesn't love a good salad bar? But what really gets me excited is their commitment to supporting local suppliers like Zingerman's Creamery and Riverridge Produce. As a parent, it's awesome to see companies prioritizing community over corporate interests 🌟 My kid's been asking for fresh greens all summer long, and now we have a new go-to spot that aligns with our values 🤗

Omg, I'm so down for trying their salads 🤩! I've heard they use super fresh ingredients from local suppliers like Zingerman's, which is awesome 🙌. But, um, have you ever tried a salad with sweet potatoes and pumpkin seeds? Like, it sounds weird but trust me, it's amazing 😍. Oh, and I'm so excited for the grand opening event on Dec 9th! I love festivals 💃. What's that one custom city doing at the event? Is it like a craft fair or something? 🎨 And yay for donating to Detroit's Forgotten Harvest charity! That's so cool 🙏. So, when is Sweetgreen planning to open? Like, tomorrow already? 😅
