Empty Bottle celebrates its 33 & 1/3 anniversary and its place in Chicago’s live music community

Chicago's Empty Bottle Celebrates 33 & 1/3 Years as a Hub for Local Music Community

When the Empty Bottle first opened in 1992, it was already gaining a reputation as a "cat-ridden hole-in-the-wall bar." But over the years, the venue has transformed into something more than just a cheap drinks and a house cat. It's become a launching pad for future stars and other live music venues in the city.

The Bottle has played host to some of the biggest names in music, including Lady Gaga, The Strokes, The White Stripes, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Jack White himself has spoken about how the venue helped shape his early career. And while it's still a beloved fixture in Chicago's live music scene, Empty Bottle is also celebrating its impact on the community.

To mark this milestone, the venue will be hosting an 11-day run of concerts featuring some of the best local and national acts. From indie rockers like Whitney to the experimental Osees, there's something for everyone at the Bottle's 33 & 1/3 celebration.

For Empty Bottle owner Bruce Finkelman, this anniversary is a chance to reflect on what he's accomplished. "This is an opportunity for us to put a stick in the ground and say we're celebrating this moment from this period on and drawing some attention to the fact that we're extremely proud of what we do," he said.

Finkelman has always put community at the forefront of his business model, welcoming artists and music fans alike into the Bottle's intimate 400-capacity room. And it's worked: Empty Bottle has become a beloved institution in Chicago, providing a space for local bands to hone their craft and connect with fans.

But Finkelman knows that there are still challenges ahead. With the rise of larger venues and live music festivals, independent clubs like his own face stiff competition for attention. That's why he's committed to supporting local artists and keeping Empty Bottle at the forefront of Chicago's live music scene.

"We're not just a club, we're a community," Finkelman said. "We welcome creative people and give them a space to try out their new material. We introduce them to fans who might not be able to spend that cover charge."

And it's working: Empty Bottle has long been a leader in Chicago's live music scene, hosting everything from free Monday nights for local bands to full-on festival productions.

As Finkelman looks to the future, he's excited about what's next for the Bottle and its sister venues. With plans to expand into neighboring territory at Salt Shed, the possibilities are endless.

"We're not done yet," Finkelman said. "We're always looking for ways to maximize what we do and bring more culture to this city."

With its 33 & 1/3 anniversary celebration underway, Empty Bottle is once again proving why it's one of Chicago's most beloved live music venues. Come check out the show – and experience a piece of local music history for yourself.

🤔 So I'm thinking about this Empty Bottle place in Chicago and how they've been around for 33 & 1/3 years... that's crazy! They started off as just a bar with a house cat, but now it's like a launching pad for famous musicians and a community hub for local artists. 🎸 It's cool to see how the owner, Bruce Finkelman, has put the focus on supporting local talent and creating a space where they can try out new stuff.

But you know what's even crazier? The music scene in Chicago is getting more competitive with all these bigger venues and festivals popping up. 🤯 It's like, how do smaller clubs like Empty Bottle stay relevant? I think Finkelman's approach of welcoming artists and fans alike and keeping it intimate is key. It's not just about the music, but about building a community around it.

Anyway, I'm definitely gonna check out their 33 & 1/3 celebration 🎉. Maybe I'll even discover some new talent! 💡

I'm so stoked about the Empty Bottle's 33 & 1/3 birthday 🎉! It's crazy to think that this little bar has been around since '92, hosting some of the most iconic bands ever 🤘. I mean, who wouldn't want to see Jack White take the stage at this legendary venue? The fact that it's still a hub for local music and provides a space for up-and-coming artists to shine is truly inspiring 💖. And let's be real, Bruce Finkelman knows what he's doing – his commitment to the community and supporting local talent is something we should all aspire to 🙌. I'm hyped that they're expanding into neighboring territory at Salt Shed, who knows what amazing shows will come out of that? The Empty Bottle is definitely one of Chicago's crown jewels 💎

Stats: average concert attendance at Empty Bottle in 2022 was 72% capacity, with a max attendance of 400 😊

Anyway, I think what's really cool about Empty Bottle is how it's managed to stay true to its roots while still adapting to the ever-changing music scene 🤯. As for Finkelman's community approach, I mean, who wouldn't want to support local artists and creatives? The fact that they're introducing them to fans for free nights is genius 💡

They really know how to create a buzz around their events 🎉. And with plans to expand into neighboring territory, the possibilities are endless! 💥

omg I'm so sad that they had to change empty bottle so much when it first opened 😔 its like they forgot where their roots were but at the same time i can understand why they had to adapt to stay alive 🤷‍♂️ and now its amazing to see them celebrate 33 & 1/3 years of bringing music to the community 👏 especially with all these sick local acts performing 💥 I'm so down for the 11-day run of concerts, Whitney is on my wishlist ASAP 🎉 Bruce Finkelman sounds like a legend for keeping Empty Bottle as a hub for creatives and giving artists a space to try out new material 🌟

lol what's up with these old venues trying to cling to relevance 🤣 I mean, 33 & 1/3 years is cute but has anyone else noticed that most 'indie' bands are just older bands playing at the same venues they did 10 yrs ago? 🎸 still, gotta give it up for Empty Bottle – they've been around longer than me 😂 and have seen some legendary acts pass through those doors. like who cares about the White Stripes when you can see Whitney live in an intimate setting though 🤷‍♂️

🎸 The Empty Bottle's 33 & 1/3 years milestone is a testament to its enduring impact on the Chicago music community 🌆. As a hub for emerging artists, it has played a significant role in shaping the city's live music scene 🎶. Bruce Finkelman's commitment to fostering creativity and connection among musicians and fans alike has been instrumental in its success 🤝. The Bottle's ability to strike a balance between providing a space for local bands to hone their craft and drawing in bigger acts is truly impressive 📈. As the music landscape continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how Empty Bottle adapts and expands into neighboring territory 🌐. For now, let's raise a glass (or two) to this beloved institution and its continued contributions to Chicago's vibrant cultural scene! 💫

🎉 The Empty Bottle's been around forever 🙌. Still brings the heat 🍺. Glad to see local artists gettin' the love 💖. Finkelman's doin' it right, keepin' the community vibes alive 🔥. Now let's see those bigger venues step up their game 👀

Man I love how much Empty Bottle has been to the table for this community over the years 🤩 It's like they've created their own little family, you know? And it's awesome that Bruce Finkelman is keeping it real, talking about how they're all about supporting local artists and giving them a space to shine 💖 I mean, who doesn't love discovering new music at a tiny venue like the Empty Bottle? It's like they're doing their part to keep the spirit of live music alive in Chicago 🎸 And honestly, I'm down for that 11-day run of concerts - Osees is gonna bring the experimental vibes and Whitney's gonna slay the indie rock scene 💥

the empty bottle has been a staple in chicago's live music scene for ages 🎸🔥 33 & 3/3 years is still crazy to think about, especially with all the talent that's come through those doors. like, can you imagine seeing lady gaga and jack white perform live back in the day? 🤯 it's amazing how empty bottle has been able to adapt and stay relevant over the years, whether it's hosting big name acts or giving a platform for local artists to shine.

i think what sets empty bottle apart is its commitment to the community. bruce finkelman's vision of welcoming artists and music fans into the venue has paid off in a big way, creating a space that's all about creativity and connection 🎶. it's not just about throwing a party, it's about fostering a sense of belonging among people who share a passion for music.

of course, with the rise of bigger venues and festivals, independent clubs like empty bottle do face challenges 😬. but finkelman's response to that is really inspiring – he's focused on supporting local artists and giving them a space to showcase their talents. it's a reminder that even in a crowded industry, there's still room for innovation and community-driven initiatives 🌟

The Empty Bottle has been around for so long now 🤯 it's crazy to think about how much of an impact they've had on Chicago's live music scene. I mean, can you imagine what this city would be like without these kinds of venues? But at the same time, it's also kinda scary to think about all the bigger venues and festivals that are moving in 🤷‍♂️.

I do love how Bruce Finkelman is always putting community first 💕, though. It's not just about making money off local bands - he genuinely cares about giving them a space to play and be seen. And I think that's what keeps Empty Bottle so special.

It's funny, though... 33 & 1/3 years of doing the same thing doesn't always guarantee success 🤔. There are definitely gonna be ups and downs ahead. But if they keep pushing forward like they have, I'm sure they'll stay relevant for a long time. Fingers crossed, anyway 😊.

😩 I mean can you even believe how fast time flies?! It feels like just yesterday we were all sipping on cheap beers at that hole-in-the-wall bar 🍺👀 and now it's been 33 & 1/3 YEARS since the Empty Bottle opened its doors? That's a whole lotta music history right there, fam! 💥

And can I just say how amazing Bruce Finkelman is for putting his community first? Like, he's not just a businessman, he's a guardian of sorts – making sure that local artists have a space to shine and connect with fans. It's really inspiring to see someone so passionate about what they do 💖

But let's get real for a sec... the music scene is SO competitive right now 🤯. I mean, where are we supposed to go when our favorite indie rockers are playing at this fancy new venue downtown? 🤷‍♀️ It's like, Empty Bottle needs to keep pushing the boundaries and making it happen in their own way 🌟

Anyway... enough about that drama 😂. Let's celebrate 33 & 1/3 years of live music goodness with some amazing local acts and great tunes! 👏 Who's ready for this? 🎉

I'm so hyped for Empty Bottle's 33 & 1/3 year milestone 🎉! It's crazy to think about how much this venue has evolved over the years, from being just another bar with a cat 😹 to becoming a launching pad for future stars and a staple of the Chicago live music scene. Bruce Finkelman is such a champion of the local community, always putting artists and fans first 🤝. I love that he's not just talking about celebrating this milestone, but also using it as an opportunity to draw attention to his commitment to supporting local talent and keeping Empty Bottle at the forefront of the city's music scene 💪. And can we talk about how awesome it is that they're hosting a 11-day run of concerts featuring some amazing acts? 🎶 I'm definitely going to try to make it out there during the celebration 🤞!

I'm low-key impressed with how much Empty Bottle has changed since they first opened back in 1992 🤩. I mean, from being just another hole-in-the-wall bar to becoming a launching pad for stars... that's some serious growth 😎. But what really gets me is how Bruce Finkelman puts his community at the forefront of everything he does 🌟. Like, he's not just about getting big names in music, but also making sure local bands can get their foot in the door 💥. That's some real commitment to preserving the local music scene. Plus, with plans to expand into new territory, I'm hyped to see what Empty Bottle has in store for us next 🎉.
