Cristiano Ronaldo: Portugal striker confirms 2026 World Cup will be his last

Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be his last, with the Portugal striker indicating he plans to retire from football in "one or two years". The 40-year-old forward, who has scored over 950 goals for club and country, made the statement during an interview at a sports summit in Riyadh.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner, who currently plays for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr, will be 41 years old when he makes his final World Cup appearance. He had previously hinted at retirement plans but had not confirmed the exact date.

Next year's tournament in Canada, Mexico and the United States would mark Ronaldo's sixth World Cup appearance. Portugal are on track to qualify for the event after securing a spot through their UEFA Nations League group stage performance.

omg 😱 can you even imagine the last game of cristiano ronaldo at the world cup?! it's gonna be such an iconic moment 🏆 950+ goals is insane, and he's still going strong! i love how he's planning to retire in one or two years, so we gotta make sure to go watch him play live before then 🎟️ 41 might seem old for a footballer, but cristiano's still the GOAT 💪 his determination to win that last world cup is so inspiring ⚽

man i cant believe cristiano ronaldo is retiring from football his goalscoring record is insane 950+ goals is a lot even tho he's gonna be 41 and still gonna give it everything in the last world cup can u imagine playing for portugal one more time ?? 🤯💥

⚽️ It's crazy that Cristiano Ronaldo is already thinking about retirement 🤯! At his age, he's still dominating the game and leaving it all on the pitch 💪. The fact that he's planning to hang up his boots in one or two years means we'll have to say goodbye to an all-time great very soon 😢. Can you believe the 2026 FIFA World Cup is going to be his last? That's gonna be a bittersweet experience for football fans worldwide 🌎

I'm thinkin' this is just a distraction from somethin' bigger 🤔. I mean, Cristiano Ronaldo's been hintin' at retirement before, but now he's goin' and on and out like that? It's almost... convenient. And what's with the timing? He's gonna be 41 when he plays in his last World Cup? That's just a number, if you ask me 📝. I'm thinkin' maybe there's more to this story than meets the eye... like maybe Ronaldo's contract with Al-Nassr is about to expire and he needs a way out of that deal 😏. And what about all the other big-name players who are still goin' strong? Is this just part of some grand plan to rebrand the sport or somethin'? I don't know, man... my mind's racin' with possibilities 🔄.

can you believe cristiano ronaldo is hangin up his boots?! 🤯 i mean, he's still playin like a superstar out there and score goals for fun but at 41? that's crazy! 💥 i think its gonna be super emotional watchin him play his last world cup in 2026. has to be hard to come to terms with the fact that ur career is comin to an end 🤕. still, he's had an amazin career and deserves a proper sendoff 👏

man, 41 is kinda old to be playing football anymore lol 🤣 cristiano ronaldo has been amazing his whole career but i think its time for him to hang up his boots, like really retire and not just slow down. he's already said one or two years so we'll see what happens in the next year. i'm kinda sad that we won't get to see him play in the 2026 world cup though, he's always been such an inspiration for young players around the world 🌎🏈. anyway, i wish him all the best and a happy retirement, whatever that means for him 😊

man, can't believe CR7 is hangin' up his boots 🤯 950 goals? insane! he's still got it, but i get why he'd wanna retire soon. 41 and still playing pro ball? that's dedication lol. gonna be sad to see him go, but also proud of what he's accomplished. six World Cups is a lot for anyone, even if they're not all winners 🏆

I'm gonna miss CR7 on the pitch 🤕. He's still playing at an incredible level considering his age, but I get why he'd wanna retire now. 950+ goals is insane! 😲 Portugal has a good shot at qualifying for the next World Cup, and it'll be interesting to see if they can lift that trophy with Ronaldo as their captain 🏆. It's crazy to think he'll only make one more appearance on the biggest stage – time flies, right? ⏱️

I think CR7 is just gonna keep playing till he's 50 lol 🤣 can't imagine him hanging up his boots now, all that money and adoration in Saudi Arabia isn't gonna make him want to retire anytime soon 🤑 plus, he's still got the skills, I mean who needs retirement when you're still scoring goals at 41?! 😂

man this is crazy, cristiano ronaldo has been playing at an elite level for over 20 years now... it's wild to think he'll be done before we know it 🤯 his career has been so inspiring, and to see him announce this now is like a reminder that time flies. 41 is still pretty young, but i guess when you're used to being the best on the field, every year feels like an eternity 😅 anyway, can't wait to see what he does next, maybe a stint in coaching or just living life outside of football?
