Columbus Boulevard ramp to I-95 to close Thursday due to capping project

Ramp Closure on Columbus Boulevard to Impede Commute as I-95 Capping Project Progresses

A major disruption to traffic is expected this Thursday as the ramp connecting Columbus Boulevard to Interstate 95 near Penn's Landing comes under closure for a scheduled capping project. The closure, set to begin at 10am and last until 2pm, will be in place while workers complete the final stages of their $329 million infrastructure overhaul.

For commuters attempting to traverse I-95 North, expect lengthy detours that may test your patience – take Columbus Boulevard north toward Summer Street, and from there, follow the signs for access. Alternatively, to reach Interstate 676 East or West, take a left turn onto Callowhill Street, then navigate through Sixth Street to connect with an entry ramp.

With work ongoing on this vital infrastructure project aimed at transforming I-95 between Chestnut and Walnut Streets into a park-riverfront space boasting a natural playground, cafe, amphitheater, and the Blue Cross RiverRink – residents are left wondering if delays now outweighed any near-term benefits. While completion is slated for 2029, workers recently imposed an overnight detour between Exits 20 and 22 from Monday to Friday last week.

So buckle up – traffic woes loom ahead as construction continues with little regard for the daily commute, prompting concerned citizens to seek out real-time updates by calling 5-1-1 or checking 511's website for the latest developments.

Ugh, it seems like they're just messing with our sanity 🤯... One day they say there's gonna be a park-riverfront space, and then the next thing you know, they're closing ramps and making commutes a nightmare 😩. I mean, what's the real agenda here? Are we just pawns in some massive urban renewal experiment? 🤑 They're spending like $329 million on this caping project and what do we get in return? More traffic congestion and delayed commutes! Not exactly the "blue cross" vision for a beautiful riverfront park... This whole thing reeks of something fishy, you know? 🐟

Ugh, I'm so done with traffic jams 🚗😩! Who thought it was a good idea to close off Columbus Boulevard just when I need to get to work? I swear, construction delays are like my love life – unpredictable and always causing me stress 😂. On the bright side, at least we'll have a sweet new park-riverfront space in 2029 🌳🏞️. Guess that's something to look forward to... after all this waiting around 💁‍♀️!

Ugh man this is getting old 🤦‍♂️ can't believe they're doing this again... I get that they wanna make some changes but do we really need to be stuck in traffic every Thursday morning? 🚗😩 and what's with all these detours anyway? It's like they're trying to confuse us on purpose! 😂 call 5-1-1 or check their website, like who even knows where that is lol? 🤔

ugh i know this feels like forever since the ramp was first closed but seriously is it too much to ask for some decent traffic updates 🤦‍♀️? been driving around all day trying to find a way to I95 and honestly its so frustrating i get that they're building something beautiful but come on 2029 feels like an eternity away

Ugh man, can't believe they're doing this again! Ramp closure on Columbus Boulevard is gonna be a nightmare for commuters Thursday morning 😩. I swear, construction delays are always so last minute. What's up with that? And $329 million?! That's a lot of cash for some infrastructure work... still thinking it's gonna be worth it when they finally complete the whole thing by 2029 🤯. Anyone else getting frustrated with all these road closures and detours? I'm just trying to get to work on time, can't they just plan this stuff out better?! 😩

ugh traffic in philly is literally the worst rn they're closing off another ramp on i95 and it's gonna be so bad 🚗💔 anyone else got plans to drive around this area tomorrow? might wanna check 511's website or call 5-1-1 for updates... btw have you seen those plans for the new park-riverfront space along i95? sounds kinda cool, but is it worth the traffic headache? 😒 https://www.511.phila.org/

Ugh I hate when they close that ramp! My kid has to take that route every day after school and it's already bad enough without having to deal with construction 😩. I'm all for the new park-riverfront space, but can't they do it during the summer or something? Like, I know construction is necessary but does it have to happen in the middle of the week?! 🤷‍♀️
