Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana gets driving ban for speeding on hard shoulder

Footballer Fofana Sentenced to 18-Month Driving Ban After Caught Speeding on Hard Shoulder

A shocking case of reckless driving has landed Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana in hot water. The 24-year-old was caught on camera speeding down the hard shoulder of a busy A road in his Lamborghini, reaching speeds of over 50mph in a 50mph zone.

Fofana pleaded guilty to one count of driving dangerously at North East Surrey magistrates court and was sentenced to an 18-month community order. The punishment includes 300 hours of community service, £85 costs, and a £114 victim surcharge.

The court heard that the incident occurred on April 20 along the A3 Esher bypass in Hook, Hampshire, and was captured by another motorist's dashcam. Prosecutors stated that Fofana was driving recklessly, failing to indicate, and ignoring road signs.

This latest offence comes after eight other speeding charges for which Fofana was disqualified from driving for two years in May. The judge took into account the fact that this incident predates those previous speeding charges but emphasized that Fofana's actions could have serious consequences.

"You're not just putting yourself at risk, you're putting innocent lives on the road," Judge Julie Cooper told him. "You're a role model for young people who look up to you, and it's your responsibility to set an example of safe driving."

The judge also warned Fofana that breaching his new 18-month driving ban would result in a prison sentence, which could be career-ending.

In a bizarre twist, the court heard that Fofana had previously been disqualified from driving for eight speeding offences and had received a £5,328 fine. However, this latest incident has landed him with an even longer punishment, highlighting the seriousness of his reckless driving.

OMG, I'M LIKE SO ANGRY THAT WESLEY FOFANA GOT AWAY WITH SUCH RECKLESS DRIVING!!! 😱 HE'S A FOOTBALLER, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE SETTING AN EXAMPLE ON AND OFF THE PITCH! 18 MONTHS IS STILL WAY TOO LONG IF YOU ASK ME, THOUGH. I MEAN, WHO DOES THIS? 🤦‍♂️ SPEEDING DOWN THE HARD SHOULDER IN A LAMBO? IT'S LIKE HE WAS TRYING TO GET THEMSELVES KILLED OR SOMETHING! AND NOW HE'S GOT 300 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE? GOOD FOR HIM FOR TAKING RESPONSIBILITY, BUT SERIOUSLY, CAN'T HE JUST TAKE A SIMPLE DRIVING COURSE OR SOMETHING?! 🤔

I'm totally against this ban 🙄, I mean, what's 18 months really gonna do? He should've just gotten a slap on the wrist and been good to go 😒. But at the same time... like, come on Wesley, it's super irresponsible of you to speed on the hard shoulder! That could've killed someone 🚗💀. And yeah, I get that he's a role model, but can't he just take responsibility for his own actions instead of expecting everyone else to follow the rules? It's like, own up to your mistakes and try not to do it again, right? 😅 But then again... maybe the 18 months will actually make him more aware of how reckless driving is 🤔. I don't know, man...

I'm shocked by Wesley Fofana's latest speeding offense 🤯. An 18-month driving ban is a pretty harsh sentence, especially considering he's only 24. I mean, I get it, he thought he was invincible behind that Lamborghini wheel 😂, but not taking the road seriously enough is just not worth it.

As a retired dad myself, I always stressed to my kids about the importance of safe driving and setting a good example for others on the road. It's sad to see someone in such a high-profile position like Fofana not taking that responsibility seriously 🤦‍♂️.

I wonder if he thought his money could buy him out of trouble, but I guess £5,328 just isn't enough to get you off this hook 💸. Anyways, I hope he takes some time to reflect on his actions and maybe even does some community service – it might just be the wake-up call he needs 😊.

OMG, can't believe Wesley Fofana was caught doing 50mph in a 50mph zone 🤯😱. I mean, I get it, he's got a Lamborghini and all, but come on! This is a massive no-no for any driver, let alone a pro athlete.

You know what really gets me? He thought he could just drive recklessly and not think about the consequences 🙅‍♂️. Newsflash: driving fast on the hard shoulder is a recipe for disaster. I'm glad the judge took this seriously (pun intended) and handed down an 18-month driving ban 💪.

And can we talk about being a role model? Fofana's got young kids looking up to him as a footballer, so it's his responsibility to set a good example 🙏. Reckless driving is not something you want to be known for, especially if you're going to be in a position of influence.

It just goes to show that celebrities and athletes are not above the law 😂. They've got to take responsibility for their actions and make sure they're setting a good example for young people 👍

🙅‍♂️ I mean, can you believe Wesley Fofana's actions? He's a footballer, for goodness sake! 🏀 Those speeds on the hard shoulder are insane! 🚨 Not only is he putting himself at risk, but also other innocent people on the road. It's just not worth it, you know? 😔

And to think he's going to have to do 300 hours of community service... that's a lot of time! ⏰ And £85 costs and a victim surcharge too... like, what's wrong with him? 🤷‍♂️ Does he not care about the impact his actions could have on others?

I just wish he'd think about the message he's sending to young people who look up to him. They need role models who are responsible and safe drivers, you know? 🙏 It's like, you can be a pro athlete and still make smart choices, right? 😊

OMG 🚨🚗 like what is going on with Wesley Fofana?! Speeding down the hard shoulder in his Lambo? I'm shocked! 😲 18 months without a drive is still pretty harsh tho. I feel bad for him, but he's got to learn to respect the roads, you know? 🤷‍♂️ As a footballer and all, he's gotta set an example too... not just for his fans but for young drivers everywhere! 🙏 He needs to be more responsible with that fast car. I mean, who drives 50mph on the hard shoulder?! 😂 Crazy!

🤔 This is wild. Like, I get it, speeding is reckless, but 18 months without driving? That's a pretty harsh sentence, especially considering he was only doing 50mph in a 50mph zone 🚗. I mean, I've seen people drive like idiots on the highway and not get caught, so what makes Fofana's case so special? 💸 The £114 victim surcharge is a bit steep for a dashcam catch, don't you think? 😒 And what's with all these speeding charges? Eight? That's a lot of mistakes from someone who's supposed to be a role model 🤦‍♂️. I need some more info on how the judge came up with this sentence before I can fully agree or disagree 📚

🤦‍♂️ I mean, what's up with these celebrities and their need for speed? 18 months without driving? It's like they're getting away with a slap on the wrist! And £85 costs? That's just peanuts considering the damage he could've done to himself or others. 🤑 The whole "role model" thing is just weak excuses for people who think they can do whatever they want and still get away with it. I'd be more worried about his safety and the safety of others on the road, not his career-ending status if he breaks the rules again. 🚗😒

OMG, like, what's going on here? 🤯 Wesley Fofana is literally putting innocent lives at risk by speeding down the hard shoulder? And he thought he was being sneaky, too... failing to indicate and ignoring road signs! 😳 I mean, I get it, he's a famous footballer and all that, but like, what does that have to do with driving safely? 🤷‍♀️

And can we talk about the £114 victim surcharge for one second? That's, like, over £1k! 💸 Like, how is that even possible? Is it because he was speeding down a busy road where people are actually driving and might get hurt? 😬

I don't get why Fofana thought this was funny. Was he trying to prove something? 🤔 And what's with all the previous speeding charges? Eight of them?! Has he just been, like, really bad at driving for years or something? 🙄

Omg I cant believe he was speeding on hard shoulder like what was he thinking 🤯 He got lucky that no one got hurt but 300 hours of community service is a lot 🙄 And poor lamborghini it must be so sad 🐑 I wonder if he will still play for chelsea after this or will the team kick him out 🤔

omg 🤯 just saw this news about Wesley Fofana getting slammed with an 18-month driving ban after catching speedin down the hard shoulder in a Lamborghini 🚗😲 i mean, what's goin on with these footballers? shouldn't they be settin example, not breakin rules? 🤔 like, I get it, mistakes happen, but this is wild. 300 hours of community service and a £114 victim surcharge? that's some serious time 💯. I guess the judge wanted to make sure he gets his point across 👊

omg 🤯 i feel so bad for fofana! he's already faced 8 other speeding charges and now he gets an 18-month ban on top of that? like, i get it, he messed up, but 300 hours of community service is pretty harsh lol 🙄 he's got a lot to make up for, and the fact that he's a role model and has young fans looking up to him makes it even more serious. but at the same time, you can't just let people get away with reckless driving, especially on hard shoulders where everyone else is trying to drive safely 🚗💨 anyway, i guess you gotta give him credit for owning up to his mistakes and taking responsibility for them 👍

😒 come on folks be careful out there you guys can easily end up like fofana who's been caught red handed speeding on hard shoulder again 300 hours of community service is pretty harsh but i guess it's a lesson he needs to learn 🤦‍♂️ if u r gonna drive fast u gotta do it right and not just speed around recklessly it's not just about u its about the ppl on the road who might get hurt by ur negligence so lets all try 2 be more responsible drivers, even when we feel like we're invincible 🚗💨

OH MY GOSH, I AM SOOOO SHOOK BY THIS NEWS!!! 🤯 Wesley Fofana needs to get his priorities straight, you know? A footballer earning 300 hours of community service and a £114 surcharge is just NOT RIGHT 💸👎 The fact that he's putting innocent lives at risk on the road because he can't even be bothered to follow speed limits is just UNACCEPTABLE 😡

And let's not forget, this isn't his first speeding offense! He's been disqualified from driving for TWO YEARS before and now he gets an 18-month ban? What does that say about him as a role model for young people? 🤔 I mean, I get it, we've all made mistakes in the past, but COME ON, WESLEY!!! 🙄

The judge was right on point when she said you're not just putting yourself at risk, you're putting innocent lives on the road. That's some SERIOUS business 😬

omg can you believe this 🤯 18 months in the community for going 50mph in a 50 zone is literally like getting a parking ticket on steroids lol! and 300 hours of community service? more like 300 hours of Netflix binge-watching 😴 but seriously though, who does that?! it's not just about Fofana, it's about setting an example for the youngins 🤓

🤔 I mean, I get why he got hit with the big hammer. 18 months is a lot of community service, especially when you're making that kind of dough from playing football. But at the same time, I feel like £114 is a pretty steep victim surcharge... I mean, it's not like the person they hit was even seriously hurt or anything. 🤑

And what really gets me is how much this affects his career. He's gotta be worried about getting pulled over again and losing another year (or more) of driving privileges. It's a bit too much, if you ask me. Maybe a community service deal with some actual driving lessons would've been more fair? 🚗

I don’t usually comment but... I feel so sorry for Wesley Fofana 🤕. 18 months is a pretty harsh sentence for speeding down the hard shoulder 🚗😱. I know he's a footballer and all, but that doesn't excuse his behavior at all ⚽️. The fact that he was caught on camera doing this stuff must have been super embarrassing for him 👀.

I don’t think it’s fair to say that he just "put innocent lives at risk" though 🤷‍♀️. Like, the other driver who was driving behind him? They could've been at fault too 😕. I mean, Fofana might’ve been speeding, but what about the other guy who was following him and not paying attention? 🚗👀

The idea that he's a role model for young people is kinda harsh too 🤦‍♂️. Like, we all make mistakes, right? You don't have to be perfect all the time ⚽️. I just think that maybe instead of an 18-month ban, there should've been some sort of rehab program or something 🚫.

Anyway... yeah. That's my two pence 💸.

😳 I just can't believe it 🙄 Fofana's gotta be shakin' in his boots right now 😅 that 18-month ban is like, a whole lotta time 🕰️ and 300 hours of community service? That's no joke 😂 He was lucky he didn't get jail time or worse. I mean, I get it, he made a stupid mistake, but speeding on the hard shoulder is just not cool ❄️ especially when you're a pro athlete like him 🏆 gotta set an example for the youngins 👦🏽. And poor guy's already been through that 2-year ban thing... 🤯 what was he thinkin'? 😂
