Camden County man pleads guilty after his girlfriend's body was found in a fridge in the woods

Tragic Discovery in New Jersey Woods: Man Pleads Guilty to Aggravated Manslaughter After Girlfriend's Body is Found in Fridge

A shocking and disturbing case has unfolded in New Jersey, where a man has pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter after his girlfriend's body was found inside a refrigerator in a state forest. Christopher Blevins, 46, faced first-degree murder charges for the killing of Laura Hughes, 50, whose remains were discovered wrapped in a sleeping bag and bound with blue ratchet straps in Belleplain State Forest last December.

According to authorities, Hughes' body was identified through distinctive tattoos, as well as a yoga mat and necklace found at the scene. Blevins had initially faced charges after a hiker stumbled upon her remains shortly before Christmas. However, he later entered a guilty plea on the lesser charge of aggravated manslaughter, which carries a sentence of 17 years in state prison.

Investigations revealed that Blevins had fled to Mexico and was eventually arrested after turning himself into authorities. During his arrest, he claimed to have been involved in a bar fight in Runnemede, but investigators also found evidence linking him to the crime scene, including a gun inside his apartment. Local authorities had previously placed his pickup truck near the forest where Hughes' body was dumped.

Tragically, Blevins and Hughes had a history of domestic abuse, which ultimately led to her tragic demise. Hughes is survived by two teenage daughters who will undoubtedly be forever affected by this senseless crime.

A sentencing hearing for Blevins is scheduled for December 5, as the community grapples with the devastating consequences of his actions. The case serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers of domestic abuse and the importance of seeking help when needed.

This whole thing just stinks, you know? Like, how do you even take someone's life like that? ๐Ÿค• It's like Blevins thought he was above the law or something, all while making a break for Mexico. I mean, what's next? Does he get to just waltz back into society after serving 17 years for taking his girlfriend's life over some domestic abuse issues? ๐Ÿšซ It just doesn't sit right with me.

And let's be real, if there was ever proof that the justice system is messed up, this case would be it. I mean, Blevins had to basically plead guilty to avoid a longer sentence, and all because of a few "mistakes" in his investigation. What about accountability? It feels like he got off scot-free, while leaving behind two young girls who will carry the weight of their mother's death for years to come ๐Ÿคฏ. It just doesn't seem fair to me...

This case is just so heartbreaking ๐Ÿค• I mean, to think that this guy was able to hide her body in a fridge like it was nothing... it's just sickening ๐Ÿ˜ท The fact that they had a history of domestic abuse makes it even more devastating - can you imagine how scared and trapped Laura must've felt? ๐Ÿ’” 17 years is a good sentence, I guess, but I feel bad for the girls who'll be dealing with this loss forever ๐Ÿค—. Maybe we can use this as an opportunity to raise awareness about domestic abuse and encourage people to seek help if they need it ๐Ÿ‘ซ

ugh this is just so sad ๐Ÿค• I cant even imagine how horrific it must have been to find Laura's body like that in the fridge, all wrapped up in a sleeping bag and bound with straps...it's just so disturbing my heart goes out to her daughters, they must be going through some major trauma right now ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’€ 17 years is still way too long for someone who murdered their partner in cold blood, i hope the community comes together to support them as much as possible ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜ข

man, this is just so messed up ๐Ÿคฏ... i mean, how does someone end up killing their girlfriend and hiding her body in a fridge? it's just crazy... and to think that they had a history of domestic abuse, it's like, what were the signs that no one saw or heard? i feel bad for her daughters, it's gonna be hard for them to deal with this trauma, but at the same time, 17 years is still 17 years too much if you ask me... the system can't be perfect, but hopefully, the sentencing will reflect the gravity of his actions ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜” Man, this is just so depressing. I mean, I know it's not like we're living in the 90s or anything, but there's something about seeing these modern cases that makes me feel like we've made no progress at all. Like, what happened to Laura? She was young and had her whole life ahead of her... and now she's just a memory wrapped up in plastic and rubber bands ๐Ÿคฏ.

And the fact that this guy claimed he was involved in a bar fight to deflect attention is just laughable. I mean, I know he thought it would work, but come on, man. You can't fool everyone that easily ๐Ÿ˜‚. And what's even more disturbing is that he had a history of domestic abuse with Laura... it's just so heartbreaking ๐Ÿ’”.

But you know what really gets me? It's not just the fact that this guy got away with it for so long, or that he eventually got caught and pleaded guilty. It's the fact that we still live in a society where women like Laura are still vulnerable to abuse, even 50 years old... and it makes me wonder when we'll finally get our act together and make real change ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

๐ŸŒ‘๐Ÿ’” This whole thing is just so messed up... I mean, I've seen some crazy stuff online, but this one's just disturbing on a whole different level. Like, how does someone end up doing something so heinous to their partner? And the fact that it was covered up and hidden in a fridge like that... ๐Ÿคฏ It's not just about the punishment, it's about the lives that are ruined. Those two daughters will be dealing with this for the rest of their lives, and I can only imagine how hard it must be for them to process what happened to their mom. We should all be taking a closer look at our own relationships and making sure we're not enabling anyone else's toxic behavior... ๐Ÿ™

omg thats such a horrific story ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ฑ i cant even imagine what laura's family is going through right now ๐Ÿ’” her daughters deserve so much more love & care than this ๐Ÿ˜ญ its just devastating to think that anyone can be involved in domestic abuse & still live to enjoy life like normal ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ we gotta make sure to support the ones who need it most & also raise awareness about domestic abuse so people know how to help ๐ŸŒŸ a 17 yr sentence seems lenient tho ๐Ÿ˜’

๐Ÿคฏ Can't believe this dude got off so easy! I mean, 17 years is nothing considering what he did to that girl. A whole life sentence would've been more fitting if you ask me... ๐Ÿšซ domestic violence should never be taken lightly and the system should do more to protect victims like Laura Hughes. It's not just about punishing the perpetrator but also about keeping communities safe. The fact that Blevins was able to flee and then turn himself in without being caught sooner is a huge red flag. He must've had some serious connections to avoid getting pinched sooner... ๐Ÿค”

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ this is so sad ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ’” I cant even imagine what the family of Laura Hughes must be going thru ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ˜จ her daughters are so young ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿป they dont deserve to lose their mom like that ๐Ÿ’”. Blevins should get max time in prison โš”๏ธ 17 yrs isnt enuf ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ domestic abuse is a big deal ๐Ÿšซ and ppl need to take responsibility for their actions ๐Ÿ˜•. Its also crazy how he thought he could just leave the country ๐ŸŒ and escape punishment ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ guess what? justice will catch up with him ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyway ๐Ÿคž

I donโ€™t usually comment but this one's just got me thinking... 17 years is still too long for someone who took an innocent life over a toxic relationship ๐Ÿค•. I feel bad for his victims' daughters, they must be going through so much pain and trauma right now ๐Ÿ˜”. It's crazy how domestic abuse can escalate into something like this - it's just not okay and people need to know that help is available if you're in a situation like that ๐Ÿ’ก. Anyway, hoping the sentencing goes well for justice to be served ๐Ÿ™.

omg what a crazy story ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜ฑ this case is just heartbreaking think about those two daughters left to pick up the pieces... 17 yrs in prison isn't even enough tbh ๐Ÿ˜” at least it's good he pleaded guilty so the trial can be over ASAP now he'll get some time to reflect on his actions and try to make amends ๐Ÿคž let's hope his daughters get the support they need from their community and beyond ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ฑ another tragic story to add to the list... i mean, whats wrong with some ppl? 46 yrs old man kills his gf & just thinks he can get away w/ it by fleeing to mexico & then getting caught... 17 yrs in prison isnt even near enough for this kind of crime ๐Ÿคฏ domestic abuse is a huge issue & we need more support systems in place to help people like laura ๐Ÿ’” her daughters will be living w/ this pain for the rest of their lives ๐Ÿ˜ญ can u imagine? & now we have to wait till dec 5th to see if justice will finally be served ๐Ÿคž

Man, I'm still trying to process this one ๐Ÿคฏ... Can't believe how brutal that was on Laura Hughes. 17 years for a guy who took someone's life over his own messed up emotions? It's like, yeah, sentence him hard, but can we also make sure those daughters of hers get the support they need? This case is just heartbreaking, especially considering what happened behind closed doors. Domestic abuse is so often swept under the rug and it's cases like this that show us how seriously messed up that is ๐Ÿ˜”.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this heinous crime ๐Ÿคฏ. It's just heartbreaking to think that someone as young and beautiful as Laura Hughes, with two precious teenage daughters who loved her so much ๐Ÿ’•, was brutally taken from them by the person she trusted most in life. The fact that their relationship was marred by domestic abuse makes it even more devastating ๐Ÿ’”.

It's crazy to think about how Blevins must have planned and executed this heinous crime, hiding her body away like a ticking time bomb ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ. And the fact that he fled to Mexico for a while before turning himself in is just mind-boggling ๐Ÿคฏ. It's clear that his guilt was eating away at him, even if he didn't realize it at first.

I do think it's great that Blevins has taken responsibility and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge, which will likely save his life compared to the original murder charges ๐Ÿ™. But for those who still don't know what happened to Laura Hughes, I hope this case serves as a wake-up call to seek help when you need it ๐Ÿ’ฅ.

The sentencing hearing can't come soon enough, and I'm just hoping that justice is served not only for Laura's memory but also for the two daughters who will forever carry the pain of their mother's loss ๐Ÿ™.

๐Ÿค• oh man this just gives me chills thinking about it.. i mean what kinda twisted game would someone play w/ their partner like that? 46 yrs old man kills his 50 yr old girl, leaves her body in a fridge like it's nothing... and then he's got the nerve to say he was involved in a bar fight when he gets caught? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ i don't think anyone should get away with stuff like that, not even if they plead guilty... 17 yrs in prison might seem like a lot, but honestly it doesn't feel like enough for someone who took someone's life. ๐Ÿค• and those poor teenage girls left behind, their mom gone, no closure... my heart just breaks thinking about it ๐Ÿ˜”

๐Ÿ˜ฑ this case is just so mind-blowing i cant even imagine how scared and helpless her daughters must've felt knowing their mom wasnt coming back home that poor guy's gonna get 17 yrs in prison which isnt near enough considering what he did but at least it's a start ๐Ÿ™ hopefully it can help raise awareness about domestic abuse and the devastating effects it has on families ๐Ÿ’”
