Boston Legacy FC announce signing of goalkeeper Hannah Stambaugh

Boston Legacy FC Makes History with First Ever Goalkeeper Signing

In a move that marks a significant milestone for the club, Boston Legacy FC has announced the signing of 26-year-old goalkeeper Hannah Stambaugh on a two-year contract. The deal, which was finalized earlier this week, makes Stambaugh the first-ever goalkeeper to join the team.

Stambaugh, who hails from Tokyo and has been part of Japan's youth teams, including helping her nation win the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup as a starting goalkeeper. She also played for Japanese professional teams from 2016-2024 before joining Angel City FC last year.

"I'm excited to be part of a brand new team with endless potential and the ability to make a new future," Stambaugh said in a statement released by the club. "It's new, and it's an opportunity for us to build something special."

The signing is seen as a major coup for Boston Legacy FC, which continues to build its expansion roster ahead of its NWSL debut on March 14 at Gillette Stadium. With this addition, the team has now announced 12 signings, with nine more to go before it reaches the NWSL minimum roster size of 22.

Team general manager Domènec Guasch welcomed Stambaugh to the fold, citing her experience playing in an expansion side in Japan and her ability to bring a great mix of NWSL and WE League experience to the team. "Hannah has qualities that we look for not just on the field, but off it, and we believe she will be a good addition to our goalkeeping department," Guasch said.

The signing comes as Boston Legacy FC looks to establish itself in the competitive world of women's soccer. With Stambaugh at the helm, the team is poised to make a statement in its inaugural season.

I don’t usually comment but I think this is so cool! A new team and they just signed their first-ever goalkeeper 🀩. I mean, Hannah Stambaugh has played for some big teams already, like Angel City FC, so it's no surprise she's making a move to Boston Legacy FC πŸ’ͺ. But what I love about this signing is that it shows the team is willing to take risks and go for someone who can bring new energy and experience to the table 🌟. And with their NWSL debut just around the corner, I'm hyped to see how they'll do πŸ’•!

I'm loving this move by Boston Legacy FC! They're really making a statement with Hannah Stambaugh joining the squad 🀩. It's amazing how her experience playing for Japan's youth teams and in the WE League will bring a unique edge to their goalkeeping department πŸ’ͺ. I'm curious to see how she'll mesh with the rest of the team, especially with 12 signings already on board πŸ“. The fact that she's excited about joining a new team with endless potential is super infectious! Can't wait to watch them take on the NWSL and make some waves in women's soccer πŸŒŠπŸ’«

πŸŸοΈπŸ‘ what's up with all these new signings? πŸ€”πŸ’ͺ seems like boston legacy fc is getting ready to take on nwsl πŸ‘©β€πŸ’ΌπŸ’₯ and with hannah stambaugh joining the squad, i think we got a good shot at making it happen πŸŽ‰πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

omg a new goalie 🀯 finally someone to save boston legacy from getting destroyed 1-0 every match lol i mean seriously though hannah stambaugh seems like a solid pick she's got some serious experience under her belt (pun intended) and joining an expansion team in japan is no joke so i'm curious to see how she'll adapt to nwsl...but let's be real, it's gonna be all about the goalies from now on πŸ€ͺ

πŸ€” I'm calling BS on this one... 26-year-old Hannah Stambaugh being the first-ever goalkeeper to join Boston Legacy FC? I need some context or source on that claim πŸ“. Wasn't she already playing for Angel City FC last year? And what's with her Tokyo roots, how does that affect her goalkeeping skills? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Plus, who exactly is DomΓ¨nec Guasch and why should we trust his assessment of Stambaugh's abilities? πŸ’β€β™€οΈ Some stats or footage would be nice to see before I believe this signing is a "major coup" for the team 😐

OMG you guys!!! 🀯 I'm literally SOOOO stoked about Hannah Stambaugh joining Boston Legacy FC!!! 😍 Like can you even imagine having a female goalkeeper who's won a WORLD CUP πŸ† as part of your team?!?! It's like, the ultimate dream come true! πŸ’« And to think she was playing for Japan in the WE League and NWSL before joining Angel City FC last year... what a PROFESSIONAL πŸ’β€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ She's literally got the skills and experience to make Boston Legacy FC a FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH!!! πŸ’₯ I mean, can you imagine watching her save shots and making those incredible goal-line saves?! 😲 It's going to be EPIC!!! 🀩

πŸ€” so, 26-year-old Hannah Stambaugh becomes the first-ever goalkeeper for Boston Legacy FC? πŸš€ that's kinda weird, 'cause I thought goalkeepers were always on the roster already... but hey, maybe this is some kind of record-breaker? πŸ’ͺ i need to see more about her stats and gameplay before I get too excited about this signing. πŸ“Š where's her bio on the team website? want to know what makes her tick. πŸ€–

I'm all about this bold move by Boston Legacy FC! πŸ’₯ They're not afraid to think outside the box and take risks, which is exactly what it takes to be a winner. It's like they say, "you gotta start small to build something big." πŸ—οΈ Stambaugh's experience playing in Japan and Angel City FC is a huge plus, and I'm sure she'll bring that expertise to help the team achieve its goals. But here's the thing - it's not just about who you sign, it's also about what kind of team culture you build around them. Will Boston Legacy FC be able to create an environment where Stambaugh and her teammates can thrive? That's the real question πŸ€”.

I'm loving this move by Boston Legacy FC ! They're really making history with Hannah Stambaugh signing and all that... Reminds me of when Chelsea FC signed Petr Čech back in 2004, it was a game-changer for them! πŸ†βš½οΈ Now, I know what you're thinking, 'What's the big deal about goalkeepers?' But trust me, this girl is gonna bring some serious skills to that net. And with all these signings, they're building up their squad like it's 2002 and Beckham was still a Real Madrid player πŸ˜‚. Can't wait to see them take on the NWSL and make a statement in women's soccer!

πŸ€” Come on, 26 and playing for Japan's youth teams? And now she just waltzes into Boston Legacy FC? I need some sources on this Tokyo girl being part of Japan's youth teams and winning that FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. Can't just take the word of the club and the player at face value. And what's up with all these Japanese pro teams she played for? Is that a thing in women's soccer? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

idk about this... another sport team getting all the hype for some random player πŸ€”. i mean, sure, she's got experience playing in japan and stuff, but what makes her think she can handle the nwsL? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ it's not like she's breaking any new ground here. just another goalkeeper signing a contract... πŸ“

I'm so stoked to see more diversity on the field, you know? A female goalie from Japan joining the NWSL is a big deal for many reasons πŸ™Œ. First of all, it's awesome that she gets to play in the US after making a name for herself in Japan, and now she's getting a fresh start with Boston Legacy FC. The fact that her experience playing in an expansion side in Japan will bring a different perspective to the team is pretty cool too 🀝. It's not just about the soccer, it's about paving the way for other women from underrepresented backgrounds to play at this level and inspire others to chase their dreams πŸ’ͺ.

im so hyped for this move lol, first-ever goalkeeper signing is a big deal and i love that she brings experience from japan and we league 🀩. it's not just about her skills on the field, but also as a person that guasch mentioned πŸ‘. i think this is gonna be a great addition to the team and help them make some noise in their first season πŸ’ͺ. maybe stambaugh can even break some records or inspire some young girls back home with her presence 🌸

omg u guyz! 🀩 i'm so hyped 4 boston legacy fc!!! they just signed this amazing goalkeeper hannah stambaugh from japan and she's been part of some big teams like angel city fc & japan's youth team lol, can u believe it? πŸ˜‚ now i know what u r thinking, why is the first signing a GK? well, apparently she has experience playing in an expansion side in japan which is kinda cool πŸ€“. anywyz, i'm loving this move by boston legacy fc and cant wait 2 c them crush it in the nwsl πŸ’ͺ🏽

man i'm hyped about this 🀩 stambaugh's got some serious skills and experience playing for japan's youth teams not to mention her time with angel city fc she's gonna bring that pro vibe to boston legacy fc can't wait to see them crush it in the nwsL πŸ˜‚

πŸ€” I wonder what makes a goalkeeper feel like they're building something special? Is it the thrill of the unknown, or the promise of creating a new identity for themselves and their teammates? 🌟 Hannah Stambaugh's journey from Tokyo to Boston Legacy FC is a fascinating case study on how experience and adaptability can lead to growth. πŸ’ͺ The fact that she's not only played in top-tier leagues but also helped her national team win the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup speaks volumes about her skills and dedication.

But what I find really interesting is how this signing affects the collective psyche of the team and the NWSL as a whole. Is it about the individual talents, or is it about the chemistry and dynamics that come with a diverse group of players? πŸ’‘ How will Hannah Stambaugh's presence influence the team's strategy and morale? These are questions that only time will answer, but for now, I'm excited to see how she'll shape the future of Boston Legacy FC πŸ†

I think this signing is super cool 🀩! Boston Legacy FC is really making moves to become a top-notch team, and having Hannah Stambaugh on board as their first-ever goalkeeper is a huge win πŸ†. She's got so much experience playing for Japan and in the WE League too, which will definitely give her an edge in the NWSL. Plus, it's awesome that she's excited to be part of a new team with endless potential - that enthusiasm is infectious! 😊 The fact that Stambaugh is from Tokyo too makes me think about how globalization is changing the game, and I'm loving it 🌎. Bring on March 14 at Gillette Stadium, Boston Legacy FC is gonna make some noise! πŸ’₯

πŸ€” so like what's up with this signing? i mean, it's cool that they got someone from japan and all, but how did they manage to get her on a 2-year contract? didn't she just play for angel city fc last year? πŸ€‘ and is it weird that the team is announcing all these signings at once? feels like they're trying to make a big statement before their nwsl debut... πŸŽ‰

I'm actually kinda bummed that Hannah Stambaugh signed with Boston Legacy FC. I mean, don't get me wrong, she's an awesome goalkeeper and all, but I think it's gonna be really hard for her to stand out on a team that's already got so many talented players πŸ€”. And let's be real, who needs another American league when there are way better leagues in Europe? The NWSL just can't compete with the likes of the WSL or D1 FΓ©minine. Boston Legacy FC should've been more strategic and signed someone from a top-tier league instead...
