‘Barbie’ Producer LuckyChap Launching International Venture With European Giant Mediawan, Mona Qureshi and Tanya Qureshi Named Co-Managing Directors

LuckyChap International, a joint venture between Margot Robbie's production company LuckyChap and European giant Mediawan Group, is set to launch its doors in January with an official presence in London. The new entity aims to produce international film and television projects across the U.K. and Europe.

The partnership brings together Mona Qureshi and Tanya Qureshi, two seasoned industry veterans with extensive experience in creative leadership. Mona Qureshi joins LuckyChap after a stint as director of scripted series at Netflix UK, while her sister Tanya Qureshi recently served as commissioning editor in drama at the BBC.

The Qureshi sisters will oversee creative and day-to-day operations for LuckyChap International, with a primary focus on television. The company plans to build out a broader team across film and television in the coming months, working closely with its US-based counterpart.

"We've always shared a deep love of storytelling, so getting to build something together at LuckyChap feels like a dream," Mona Qureshi and Tanya Qureshi said in a joint statement. "As sisters, we've cheered each other on through our individual careers, and now we get to combine everything we've learned to grow this next chapter – literally and figuratively – side by side."

LuckyChap International will operate under the leadership of Monaco-based producer Pierre-Antoine Capton, who led discussions with Robbie's company. The international venture is majority-owned and controlled by LuckyChap, with Mediawan maintaining a minority stake.

The strategic partnership and investment emerge from ongoing conversations between LuckyChap and Mediawan Group. Mediawan has established itself as one of Europe's biggest independent studios, producing more than 400 titles each year across drama, unscripted, documentary, cinema, and animated original content through 80 production labels operating in 14 countries.

The partnership is seen as a major coup for Capton, who will work closely with Mona Qureshi and Tanya Qureshi to support LuckyChap's growth and creativity. "We are thrilled to support LuckyChap's talented teams in this new and pivotal step of their development," Capton said in a statement.

LuckyChap International is poised to capitalize on the UK's growing reputation as a major production hub for movies and shows, as well as its source of buzzy hits such as "Adolescence." The company will focus on producing films that reflect LuckyChap's signature DNA, with an emphasis on unique voices and bold ideas.

🎬💡 this is so cool! another new player in the game and i'm loving the fact that its all about storytelling and girl power 🤗 those qureshi sisters are going to bring so much energy to luckychap international can't wait to see what they come up with next 👀

Meh, another Hollywood exec trying to get in on the European film game 🤔. I mean, what makes them think they can just waltz in here and start making some hits? They've got the Qureshi sisters, who are all well and good, but have we seen their track record yet? And Mediawan Group is just a big name with deep pockets... 🤑

I'm not convinced this is going to lead to anything groundbreaking. It's just another attempt at cashing in on the UK's TV production boom. What about the talent? Are they actually bringing anyone new to the table, or are they just rehashing old ideas? 💡

Omg u guys! This is literally the best news ever 🤩! Mona & Tanya Qureshi joining forces at LuckyChap Int'l is a total dream come true, especially after their individual success at Netflix UK and BBC. I'm hyped to see what kind of TV shows they're gonna create with that Mediawan Group backing 💸. The fact that Pierre-Antoine Capton is on board too must be a huge win for LuckyChap. This new venture is all about creating unique voices and bold ideas, which I am HERE for 🎬📺

man... just think about all the amazing content we're gonna see come outta this new venture 🤩! Mona & Tanya Qureshi are straight fire, I love how they're bringing their expertise together to create something special. LuckyChap International's got a solid foundation with Mediawan Group, and Pierre-Antoine Capton is like the perfect wingman 👍. It's gonna be awesome seeing these talented folks collaborate on some new projects, especially since we know they'll be pushing boundaries with unique voices & bold ideas 💡. Can't wait to see what they've got cooking in Jan 😎

I'm low-key hyped about this new joint venture! I mean, Mona Qureshi and Tanya Qureshi are literally legends in the industry, and now they're working together at LuckyChap International 🤩. It's like a dream come true for them, and I can see why Pierre-Antoine Capton was stoked about this partnership too 😊. The fact that it's focusing on TV and building out a team is super exciting, especially with Mediawan Group bringing in their expertise from across Europe 💪. And can we talk about how cool it is to see a new entity emerging in London? It's like the UK is finally getting its due as a major production hub 🎥. Fingers crossed this venture will bring us some amazing shows and films that showcase unique voices and bold ideas! 👍

🎥👯‍♀️ the Qureshi sisters are gonna kill it at luckychap international!!! they're bringing their Netflix and BBC experience to the table, which is huge! 🤩 i love that they're keeping film & TV production in mind, too - we need more content like "adolescence" that pushes boundaries. 🌟 capton's got a solid track record, so fingers crossed for this new venture! 💪🏼🎬

I think this is going to be super cool lol 🤩 but then again, what if it just ends up being another faceless production company trying to make a name for itself? 🤑 The Qureshi sisters seem like total pros tho, I mean, Mona was at Netflix UK and Tanya was at the BBC... that's like getting an A+ in film school or something 🎓. But then again, what if they're just going to churn out formulaic TV shows that nobody's actually watching? 📺 And another thing, I heard Mediawan Group is pretty big time producer-wise, but what if LuckyChap is just along for the ride? 🚣‍♀️

🤔 I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a sign of bigger changes...I mean, it's great to see more international collaboration in the film industry, but have you thought about what happens when these big studios start to dominate the market? 🎥 It feels like we're losing some of that indie magic that made the UK so appealing in the first place. Still, if the Qureshi sisters can bring some fresh perspectives and unique voices to the table, I'm all for it! 💡 The fact that they have experience working at Netflix and the BBC is a huge plus, though. Let's just hope they don't get sucked into the same corporate vortex that's happening in other industries... 🤷‍♀️

I'm low-key surprised they're not launching in LA instead of London 🤔. I mean, the UK is cool and all, but have you seen the film industry in LA lately? It's like, totally on fire 🔥. With Mona and Tanya Qureshi at the helm, LuckyChap International might just be able to bring some fresh talent to the table 🎬. But let's be real, if I were Pierre-Antoine Capton, I'd be focusing on building a team with people who actually know how to produce content, not just being all cute and creative 😊. And what's up with the partnership being majority-owned by LuckyChap? Shouldn't Mediawan have more say in the game? 🤑
