Chilly Start to the Week, Cooler Temperatures Ahead.
A rather chilly start to the day is expected for many areas as early morning lows plummet into the lower-to-mid-30s in inland valleys. However, the afternoon brought a welcome respite from the cold, with sunny skies and temperatures ranging from the upper 50s to lower 60s - not too shabby for early January.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week, mostly sunny skies are expected to prevail, with a slightly warmer temperature trend developing by midweek. But there are two things to keep in mind:
A cold weather advisory will be in effect from midnight to 9 am tomorrow in the North Bay Valleys, East Bay Valleys, Santa Clara Valley, and East Santa Clara Hills, where morning lows may drop into the lower-to-mid-30s.
Additionally, a beach hazards statement will be in effect from tomorrow afternoon through Monday evening. Large breaking waves are expected along with the possibility of dangerous rip currents and sneaker waves.
For the rest of the week, calm and pleasant weather is expected for most areas, but keep an eye on those advisories to stay safe.
