Thailand to let Myanmar refugees work to counter aid cuts and labour shortages

omg i'm so hyped about this thailand is finally stepping up its game when it comes to helping refugees in need! 42k+ people are gonna get the chance to work outside their camps which is super inspiring especially after all the foreign aid cuts from the US. i feel bad for these ppl who have been living in those camps for so long, it's like they've been stuck in a time loop .

i do think there might be some hiccups with them not speaking thai tho... like, how r u gonna get a job if ur not fluent? but i guess the govt has got some good partnerships lined up to help w/ that. and i love how the UNHCR is all about creating self-reliance among the refugee population - it's like they're saying "hey, we've got ur back"

I mean I'm glad to see Thailand is taking this step , but it reminds me of when my cousin's family came to the States as refugees back in '07... they struggled so much to find work, and it was tough on them mentally too . So yeah, 42k people getting a chance to get out there and work is awesome, but I'm sure some will still face challenges due to language barriers and stuff .

I'm thinking of my friend's sister who went through similar struggles in Malaysia... she had to learn Malay from scratch just to get a job . I hope the Thai government has some solid plans in place to support these people, 'cause it's not just about getting a work permit, it's about building lives and communities too .

It's interesting that they're partnering with employers and conducting job fairs... reminds me of when I was volunteering at this one youth center back home, trying to connect young folks with job opportunities . Good on the Thai government for taking initiative, but still gotta make sure these people have a solid safety net and access to resources

omg i'm dyin over this news !! thailand is literally doing the right thing here, giving refugees a chance to work and become self-sufficient it's not just about helping them out, but also reducing the strain on foreign aid, which is super cool the thai government is on point for implementing policies that benefit everyone i mean, sure there are concerns about limited proficiency in thai and integrating into society, but the gov is tryin to help with job fairs and support services the UNHCR is doin a great job too, working closely w/ stakeholders to make it happen this decision is def gonna set a regional precedent for sustainable solutions, and i'm here. for. it!

Its a big deal that Thailand is letting these people work... I mean, its great that they're gonna get some jobs, but at the same time, 42k+ ppl gotta navigate a new country without knowing the language or culture... thats a lot of pressure . And what about all the ppl who are hesitant to join? wont be easy for them to adapt, especially if they dont speak Thai fluently . its nice that the UN is there to help, but still, gotta wonder how well this whole thing will work out...
